Mariko Sakakibara joined the UCLA Anderson faculty in 1994, focusing her research on alliances, innovation, intellectual property rights, entrepreneurship, multinational corporate strategy, and national competitiveness. Prior to coming to the United States, she was a Fulbright Scholar and served as deputy director of Japan's Ministry of International Trade and Industry. Sakakibara has been invited to present her work worldwide, including in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Israel, Canada, Australia, India, Japan, and Korea. She has also served as a consultant to a variety of corporations on studies of foreign market entry, intellectual property rights, and strategic alliances.
