Biography

Dr. Yatabe is originally from Brazil and received her D.D.S. degree from Sao Paulo State University in Araçatuba, Brazil, in 2006. She obtained a Certificate in Orthodontics in 2010 from the Hospital of Rehabilitation of Craniofacial Anomalies, University of Sao Paulo in Bauru, Brazil. Continuing her education, she completed her Master's and PhD degrees in 2013 and 2016, respectively, followed by a Post-Doctoral fellowship in 2017. Dr. Yatabe joined the University of Michigan in the Orthodontic Department as a Craniofacial Fellow in July 2017 and became a Clinical Assistant Professor in July 2018. Her research interests focus on interdisciplinary treatment for patients with unilateral cleft lip and palate and/or craniofacial anomalies, emphasizing 3D imaging analysis. In her role, she works directly with graduate students as a Craniofacial Fellow and as a didactic and clinical instructor at the Dental School. Dr. Yatabe also provides orthodontic care to patients with craniofacial anomalies at Mott Children's Hospital, where she sees patients in faculty practice.
