Dr. Marilyn Tan

Biography

Marilyn Tan is a Clinical Professor of Medicine, specializing in Endocrinology, at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Tan is double board certified in Endocrinology and Internal Medicine. Her primary clinical interests focus on both outpatient and inpatient diabetes management. Her research interests encompass diabetes, post-bariatric hypoglycemia, value-based care, and quality improvement in healthcare. Dr. Tan is continuously engaged in education for residents and fellows, partaking in mentorship roles within the department. She serves as the Chief of the Endocrine Clinic at Stanford Health Care and has held multiple academic appointments, including Associate Program Director of the Endocrinology Fellowship Training Program. Throughout her career, Dr. Tan has garnered numerous awards, including being named a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and receiving various teaching awards from Stanford University School of Medicine. Additionally, she participates actively in professional organizations related to her field, such as the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and the Endocrine Society. Dr. Tan's educational background includes a medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine and a residency in Internal Medicine and Fellowship in Endocrinology at Stanford University. She holds a BA in Molecular Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.
