Biography

Marina Lafarga Magro is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Warwick, focusing on exoplanets in the Neptune desert. She has worked with Dr. David Armstrong and Dr. Heather Cegla's research groups on various projects, including the alignment of planetary orbits with stellar spin, using the Rossiter-McLaughlin effect to study spin-orbit angles. Lafarga has also collaborated with Dr. Matteo Brogi to characterize the atmosphere of the bloated super-Neptune WASP-166 b, using high-resolution optical observations from the ESPRESSO instrument. Her PhD research at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona involved analyzing high-resolution spectra of M dwarf stars using CARMENES data, leading to the development of an open-source pipeline called Raccoon for cross-correlation techniques in stellar observations. With a strong emphasis on the effects of stellar variability, her studies have significantly contributed to the understanding of stellar activity indicators in M dwarfs. She has authored multiple refereed publications, addressing various aspects of exoplanet detection and analysis, particularly focusing on M dwarf stars.
