Biography

Marina Picciotto is the Charles B. G. Murphy Professor at Yale University, in the Department of Psychiatry, Child Study Center, and Neuroscience. She joined Yale in 1995 after completing her postdoctoral fellowship in the Jean-Pierre Changeux Laboratory of Molecular Neuroscience at the Institut Pasteur in Paris. Picciotto earned her Ph.D. in Molecular Neurobiology from Rockefeller University in New York City in 1992 and received her B.S. in Biological Sciences from Stanford University in 1985. A prominent researcher, she is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Neuroscience and serves as the President of the Society for Neuroscience. Her research is centered on understanding acetylcholine signaling and its role in brain development and function, with a focus on how these mechanisms relate to behaviors associated with psychiatric conditions. She has received numerous awards, including the Presidential Early Career Award for Science and Engineering and is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
