Biography

Mario Leclerc obtained a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Laval University, Quebec, Canada in 1987. After a brief stay at INRS-Energy and Materials, he joined the Max-Planck-Institute Polymer Research in Germany as a postdoctoral fellow in 1988. In 1989, he accepted a position as Assistant Professor at the University of Montreal's Department of Chemistry. In 1994, he was promoted to Associate Professor and achieved Full Professor status in 1998. He joined the Research Center for Science and Engineering of Macromolecules at Laval University and held the Canada Research Chair on electroactive and photoactive polymers until 2021. Prof. Leclerc is the author or co-author of over 300 publications, with an h-index of 107 and 52,000 citations. His current research focuses on developing water-soluble conductive polymers for use as transparent conductive electrodes and on developing new polymerization methods, including direct heteroarylation polymerization.
