Biography

Mariolina Eliantonio is a Professor of European Comparative Administrative Law Procedure at Maastricht University. Her research is primarily focused on the enforcement of European law within national EU courts, with a specific emphasis on the theme of access to national and European courts, particularly concerning environmental matters. She explores the Europeanization process within national procedural administrative law and the impact of judicial review in new governance modes. Eliantonio's expertise includes European law, European administrative law, comparative administrative law, judicial protection, soft law, shared administration, and standardization. She studied law at the University of Teramo from 1997 to 2001 and continued her studies at Maastricht University until 2002, where she finalized her PhD in 2008. Her doctoral thesis, 'Europeanisation of Administrative Justice? The Influence of ECJ’s Case Law in Italy, Germany, and England', received a special distinction from the European Public Law Group. From 2008 to 2015, she worked as an Assistant Professor in the European Administrative Law department of Public Law and became an Associate Professor in 2016. Eliantonio also coordinates various courses on European comparative administrative law.
