Biography

Marisa C. Kozlowski is the Ponzy Lu Endowed Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania. Her research focuses on the rational design of new methods and catalysts for use in organic synthesis. Utilizing high throughput screening and innovative computational tools, her lab aims to discover and optimize new reagents and catalysts. In addition, her research addresses mechanisms to improve reaction processes and deepen the understanding of fundamental reaction steps. Her work in developing new synthetic methods is applied in key steps of total synthesis strategies for a variety of important pharmaceutical agents and natural products. She has made substantial contributions to the fields of organic catalysis and chemical education. Kozlowski has also held an NSF Postdoctoral Fellowship at Harvard University from 1995 to 1997.
