Dr. Marisol Figueira

Biography

Marisol Figueira, MD, is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Boston University's Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, specializing in Infectious Diseases. After earning her Medical Degree from Universidad Central de Venezuela, she completed her residency and fellowship in pediatrics and infectious diseases. Dr. Figueira has dedicated her career to understanding otitis media, focusing on the pathogenesis, prevention, and treatment of this condition, particularly as it relates to Streptococcus pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenzae. She has established a practice primarily serving the Latino community and has received significant funding from the NIH for her research. She joined Boston University as an Assistant Professor after years of clinical practice, and her work has been referenced in various policy sources, indicating her influence in the field.
