Biography

Marit Hammond is an Associate Professor in the Department of Politics at the University of Warwick, specializing in Climate Change and Environmental Politics. She joined Warwick after serving as a Lecturer in Environmental Politics at Keele University for nine years. Marit earned her PhD in Government (Political Theory) from the University of Essex in 2015, following an MA in Environmental Governance in 2010 and a BA in International Relations from Dresden University of Technology in 2008. Marit has held visiting positions at Goethe University Frankfurt and the Australian National University. Her research interests include the intersections of sustainability transformations, deliberative democracy, and environmental political theory. She has published extensively in these areas, including the 2021 edited volume "Political Prospects of Sustainability Transformation" and the 2018 monograph "Power and Deliberative Democracy". Marit is also a co-investigator for the ESRC Centre for Understanding Sustainable Prosperity, which explores the political foundations of sustainable prosperity.
