Biography

Professor Marit Kragt specializes in Agricultural Resource Economics with a focus on improving decisions related to natural resource management. Her research primarily aims at understanding the adoption of greenhouse gas mitigation practices in agriculture, as well as investigating barriers to sustainable innovation. Marit studied Environmental Science with a major in Environmental Management at Wageningen University in the Netherlands. After briefly working for the Dutch Department of Foreign Affairs in The Hague and Beijing, she pursued her Master's in Economics and PhD from the Australian National University in Canberra. In July 2010, she joined the University of Western Australia, where she currently leads the Centre for Agricultural Economics Development and is involved in several significant research initiatives aimed at enhancing agricultural sustainability and profitability. Her expertise encompasses interdisciplinary research, agricultural economics, climate change mitigation, and environmental valuation.
