Biography

Marjolein Zweekhorst is a Full Professor at the Athena Institute of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, specializing in Innovation in Health and Life Sciences. She graduated in Medical Biology from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 1996 and wrote her PhD thesis on the institutionalization of interactive approaches to technological innovation, which she defended in 2004. Zweekhorst also works on educational innovations in health life sciences, preparing students for inter- and transdisciplinary research. Additionally, she leads the Broader Mind Community Service Learning Team at her university, promoting community engagement through education and participating in multiple Erasmus projects aimed at enhancing societal impact. With over a decade of experience as the Program Director for the Master's in Management, Policy-Analysis, and Entrepreneurship in Health Life Sciences, she currently directs the Master's program in Biomedical Sciences. She serves on the International Academic Board of the Dutch Royal Tropical Institute and engages in research aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
