Dr. Marjolijn Das

Biography

Marjolijn Das is an endowed Professor of Urban Statistics at the Erasmus University Rotterdam and a senior statistical researcher at Statistics Netherlands. Her research primarily focuses on the interaction between people and their social (urban) environment. She has extensively published on topics such as mobility, life course, geographical family networks, family influences, urban geography, and spatial inequality. Holding a PhD from Utrecht University, her work delves into social behaviour, conflict management, and primate studies. With expertise in large-scale register data, Marjolijn has significant experience in quantitative social research involving both register data and surveys. Her academic role also involves participation in the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Centre for BOLD Cities, where she engages with issues related to public science and urban statistics.
