Biography

Mark joined the University of Glasgow in September 2004, previously serving as a lecturer at Leeds Metropolitan University Business School. He earned his undergraduate degree (with distinction) in Mathematical Economics from Yerevan State University of Economy in 1997, completed his MPhil in International Finance in 2000, and received his PhD in Accounting and Finance in 2004 from the University of Glasgow. Currently, Mark serves as the Associate Head of the Accounting and Finance subject group. Prior to his academic career from 1996 to 1999, he held roles as a financial analyst at a financial services firm, an economist at the Ministry of Finance and Economy in Armenia, and worked for the assistant Prime Minister of Armenia. His research has been published in prestigious journals, including Contemporary Accounting Research, the Journal of Corporate Finance, the Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal, and Accounting Business Research. Mark's current research interests focus on the relationships between key actors and decision-makers in the market, as well as investment advice, sell-side and buy-side analysts, investor relations officers, and corporate brokers. His long-term research interests also encompass equity valuation, investment analysis, and corporate reporting.
