I am a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology, part of the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) Biomarker Core. My current research focuses on understanding the role of biomarkers in Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) pathogenesis, with a specific focus on blood plasma. I am investigating the associations of neuropsychiatric symptoms such as anxiety and depression with changes in biomarkers. Furthermore, I am interested in the nexus between biomarkers, sleep, and circadian rhythm dysfunctions. With a training as a chemical biologist, I hold a PhD in Organic Chemistry along with postdoctoral training and a Master’s degree in Clinical Epidemiology and Health Services Research. My unique background, which combines basic physical sciences with clinical research, informs my ongoing interest in elucidating molecular mechanisms of disease progression and developing novel therapeutics. I am also dedicated to developing culturally-competent methods for translational research aimed at reducing health disparities in underserved communities. Moving forward, I intend to continue my research efforts encompassing diverse interests, incorporating basic science, understanding mechanisms of disease, and studying clinical outcomes.
