Biography

Mark Buitelaar is an Associate Professor at the London Centre for Nanotechnology at University College London. He is the Principal Investigator and co-Director of the Centre for Doctoral Training Delivering Quantum Technologies at UCL. Mark received his PhD from the University of Basel, Switzerland, and has held research positions at the University of Cambridge and was a Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Fellow. His research interests focus on engineering quantum coherence and correlations in nanoscale quantum devices. He has pioneered work on superconducting Kondo correlations in quantum dots, and Pauli spin blockade with radio-frequency reflectometry for the readout of quantum devices. His latest research involves the development of cryogenic quantum paraelectric varactors, which provide record capacitance sensitivity for ultrafast, high-fidelity readout of solid-state quantum devices.
