Professor Dr. Mark Burgman

Biography

Mark Burgman is an Honorary Research Fellow and the Director of the School of Life Science at the University of Hawai’i Manoa. He serves as the Editor-in-Chief for the journal Conservation Biology. His work primarily focuses on the application of risk assessment and decision analysis to biodiversity conservation and natural resource management. He has extensive experience in modeling ecological systems and using statistical techniques to inform conservation actions. Throughout his career, Burgman has contributed to numerous publications in leading academic journals and has been involved in various research projects related to environmental management and conservation strategies. He is recognized for his efforts in enhancing public understanding of ecological challenges and influencing policy decisions through scientific evidence.
