Biography

Mark V. Campbell is a DJ, scholar, and curator whose research navigates the relationships between Afrosonic innovations and human expression. As the Principal Investigator of the SSHRC funded research project, Hip Hop Archives: Poetics and Potentials of Knowledge Production, Dr. Campbell's work emphasizes contemporary issues in music and culture. His recent publications include the monograph Afrosonic Life (2022) and a co-edited collection, Hip Hop North: The 49th Parallel (2020). He is also involved in upcoming works on Hip Hop Archives, centered on the politics and poetics of knowledge creation. In addition to his role as Associate Professor in the Department of Arts, Culture, and Media at the University of Toronto Scarborough, Dr. Campbell collaborates with organizations like the Laboratory for Artistic Intelligence and the Research Centre for Music, Sound, and Society in Canada.
