Biography

Professor Cappelli received a B.Sc. degree in Physics from McGill in 1980 and M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Aerospace Sciences from the University of Toronto in 1983 and 1987, respectively. He joined Stanford University in 1987 and is currently a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He also serves as Co-Director of the Engineering Physics Program. His research focuses on applied plasma physics with applications in a broad range of fields including space propulsion, aerodynamics, medicine, materials synthesis, and fusion. Throughout his career, Professor Cappelli has made significant contributions to the area of plasma technologies and has been involved in numerous research projects and collaborations that bridge fundamental research and practical applications.
