Biography

Professor Daskin received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, followed by a Certificate in Post-Graduate Study in Engineering from the University of Cambridge. He completed his Ph.D. at MIT specializing in Civil Engineering. His research interests center around the application of operations research techniques to problems in transportation, supply chain management, healthcare, and facility location modeling. He has served as the editor-in-chief for 'Transportation Science' and 'IIE Transactions,' and was the president of INFORMS in 2006. Additionally, he chaired the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences at Northwestern University from 1995 to 2001. He is a fellow of both INFORMS and the Institute of Industrial Engineers, and he has received numerous awards including the Fred C. Crane Award and the Technical Innovation Award from the Institute of Industrial Engineers. His scholarly contributions have significantly influenced the fields of analytics and operations research.
