Dr. Mark Del Borgo

Biography

Mark works in the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University as a Senior Lecturer and Lab Head of the Macro Therapeutics Lab within the Department of Pharmacology. Mark Del Borgo is an internationally recognized member of the peptide science community with extensive experience in the pharmacological characterization of peptides within various biological settings. He received his PhD in pharmacology from the University of Melbourne in 2005 and immediately became a research fellow in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Queensland until 2007. He then took a teaching-only position at the Department of Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Kansas from 2007 to 2008. In 2009, he became a research fellow in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at Monash University. His work involves the demonstration of peptides derived from β-amino acids that can self-assemble into a wide range of fibrous materials, which are published in Angewandte Chemie International Edition. These materials form a platform technology for applications in regenerative medicine and bioengineering for drug delivery, focusing on high-quality publications and seeking commercial partners.
