Biography

Mark Gilbertson is a Senior Lecturer specializing in Fluid Aerodynamics at the University of Bristol. His research primarily focuses on fluidization effects, studying how particles behave under weight and the drag exerted by gas flow. His work encompasses understanding the behavior of bubbles formed in fluidized beds, characterizing and controlling fluidized beds using pressure fluctuations, and exploring the behavior of fluidized granular currents and tapered fluidized beds. Additionally, he investigates segregation in beds with various particle sizes and densities. His collaborations extend to Earth scientists, applying his expertise to geological systems, and he is interested in the behavior of viscously dominated fluids in industrial applications, such as dental root canals and insulation board production.
