Biography

Mark Goble received his Ph.D. from Stanford University and has been teaching in Berkeley's English department since 2008. His research focuses on the connections between literature and media technologies from the late 19th century to the present. Goble is the author of 'Beautiful Circuits: Modernism Mediated Life' (Columbia University Press, 2010) and has a forthcoming book titled 'Downtime: Twentieth Century Slow Motion' set for 2024. Goble's work has been published in numerous collections and journals such as Diacritics, ELH, MLQ, American Literature, Los Angeles Review, and Brooklyn Rail. He served as Past President of the Association for the Study of Arts and Present. Goble is currently working on a project centered on the post-Hollywood novel and the persistence of old media.
