Biography

Mark Golden is a Professor in the Faculty of Science at the University of Amsterdam. His area of expertise includes quantum materials, condensed matter physics, and electronic structure of solids. His research focuses on the experimental investigation of electronic structure properties of quantum matter and emergent quantum materials. He aims to understand the surprising behavior of low-dimensional strongly interacting electronic systems through direct, spectroscopic interrogation of energy, momentum, and spatial distributions within electronic systems. Current research interests include unconventional superconductors, topological materials, and the study of associated phenomena using various advanced spectroscopic techniques. Golden has co-authored over 150 publications in international refereed journals and has presented more than 135 invited talks at international conferences, workshops, and scientific colloquia. He collaborates with leading laboratories and theoretical physicists across Europe to advance the understanding of quantum materials, frequently utilizing synchrotron radiation sources for his studies.
