Biography

Mark Greene, MD, PhD, FRCP, is an Emeritus Professor at the University of Pennsylvania's Perelman School of Medicine, specializing in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. His extensive research portfolio focused on receptor function and the application of small molecules in targeting oncoproteins associated with abnormal cell growth. Over a span of 19 years, he and his laboratory made significant contributions, particularly in studying the erbB gene family and the unique properties of receptor heteromeric assemblies. His laboratory was pivotal in discovering the association of pl85c-neu with the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), resulting in increased kinase activity and enhanced receptor signaling in malignant cells.
