Biography

Mark Howden is the Director of the ANU Institute for Climate, Energy & Disaster Solutions at the Australian National University. He is an Honorary Professor at Melbourne University and serves as the Vice Chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Mark is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE) and chairs the ACT Climate Change Council. His contributions to the IPCC, especially in the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Assessment Reports, were recognized when he shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with Al Gore and other IPCC participants.
