Biography

Mark Hu is an Assistant Teaching Professor of Physics at Penn State Harrisburg. He earned his Ph.D. in Physics Education Research (PER) from the University of Pittsburgh. His teaching philosophy is centered around transforming the perception of physics from a subject of fear to one that inspires wonder, curiosity, and gratification. Mark's research focuses on the development of active learning materials for quantum mechanics courses and seeks to continually improve student attitudes, learning outcomes, and the social environment within introductory physics lecture and lab courses. He has interdisciplinary interests that encompass biology, chemistry, music, philosophy, history, art, and animation, which he strives to incorporate into his teaching to foster a hunger for learning among students. Mark is committed to education as a principle practice and believes in the empowering nature of knowledge and its growth through personal merit.
