Biography

Mark Humphrey received his PhD in 1987 and DSc in 2002 from the University of Adelaide, and a DUniv (honorary) from Université Rennes 1, France in 2019. He has held positions at Universität Würzburg in Germany (1987-1989), the University of Illinois in the USA (1989-1990), and the University of New England (1990-1994). He joined the Australian National University (ANU) in 1994 as a Lecturer, advancing to Senior Lecturer in 1995, Reader in 1998, and Professor in 2003. He was elected to the European Academy of Sciences in 2020 and to Academia Europaea in 2021. His recognitions include fellowships from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and CNRS. He has also been awarded various honors, including the inaugural RACI Organometallic Award in 1998 and the RACI H.G. Smith Memorial Medal in 2010. His research focuses on mixed-metal clusters and catalysis, particularly in developing organometallic compounds for optical applications. He has supervised numerous research students and collaborated extensively within the academic community.
