Biography

Mark C. Jeffrey is an Assistant Professor in the Edward S. Rogers Sr. Department of Computer Science at the University of Toronto, with a cross-appointment in the Department of Computer Science. His research centers on computer architecture and computer systems, focusing on enabling software engineers to effectively harness the potential of parallel systems with thousands of cores. His current research interests include developing new programming models and compilers that make it easier to express challenging types of parallelism and creating large-scale multicore accelerator architectures that can efficiently extract parallelism. Before joining the University of Toronto, he was a Research Scientist in the Systems group at Facebook AI Research and earned his PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he worked with Daniel Sanchez in the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. He also has experience as a software engineer at AeroFS, a startup supported by Y Combinator, where he worked on distributed file sharing solutions.
