Biography

Mark S. Kamlet is a University Professor of Economics and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University and has been affiliated with the institution since 1976. He has held various leadership roles, including department head of Social Decision Sciences from 1990 to 1993 and dean of Heinz College from 1993 to 2000. Kamlet served as the provost and executive vice president from 2000 to 2014, where he was responsible for overseeing research and educational activities across the campus. His contributions have focused on enhancing technology commercialization and internationalization. In recent years, he was the interim director of the Institute for Politics and Strategy from 2021 to 2023. Kamlet holds degrees from Stanford University and the University of California at Berkeley.
