Mark Lancaster is a Professor of Particle Physics at the University of Manchester. He obtained his MA degree in Physics from Keble College, Oxford in 1988 and continued with a DPhil in high energy experimental particle physics from 1988 to 1992. He has extensive experience working at prestigious research institutions including DESY in Hamburg and Fermilab in Chicago, where he worked on the HERA electron-proton collider and the Tevatron experiment, respectively. Mark has also held a lecturer position at UCL and served in various departmental and university committees, including the STFC grants panel and the IoP's High Energy Physics Group Committee. His research interests primarily focus on experimental high energy particle physics, including precision measurements of fundamental particles and the development of advanced software solutions for data processing. He is an elected Fellow of the Royal Society and the American Physical Society, and has received several awards including the James Chadwick Medal from the Institute of Physics. His current research includes leading UK participation in significant muon experiments at Fermilab, aiming to explore new physics beyond the Standard Model.
