Mark Lemmon is the Alfred Gilman Professor of Pharmacology and the Co-Director of the Yale Cancer Biology Institute. He returned to Yale in 2015 after spending 19 years on the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania, where he was the George W. Raiziss Professor of Biochemistry and Biophysics and Chair of his department. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 2016 and received the Dorothy Crowfoot Hodgkin Award from the Protein Society, as well as the Stanley N. Cohen Biomedical Research Award from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Lemmon’s research focuses on the signaling networks controlled by receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs). His lab investigates how RTK mutations can affect cancer progression and therapeutic resistance, employing a variety of biochemical, structural, and cellular approaches. Recent work includes understanding the distinct modes of signaling in the Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) family and the roles of orphan RTKs in immune regulation. Dr. Lemmon collaborates closely with clinical investigators to bridge fundamental biochemical research and practical therapeutic applications.
