Biography

Mark Lesk is a medical doctor and an ophthalmologist, currently serving as the Director of the Glaucoma Research Unit at the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital Research Center. He holds the position of Professor at the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Montreal and is also the Chief Ophthalmologist at the University Center for Ophthalmology at the same hospital. His research includes exploring the biomechanical properties of the eye in the development and progression of glaucoma, developing new imaging technologies to measure these properties, and studying the development of Space-Associated Neuro-ocular Syndrome in NASA astronauts. Mark Lesk is also involved in stem cell research for regenerative therapies related to glaucoma, as well as genetic therapy developments using CRISPR technology. He has received funding from numerous sources, including the CIHR and NASA/Canadian Space Agency.
