Dr. Mark Mcinroy

Biography

Mark McInroy received his doctorate in systematic historical theology from Harvard Divinity School and completed postdoctoral research at the University of Cambridge. He later joined the Theology Department at the University of St. Thomas, where he served as Professor of Theology and Associate Chair. McInroy is the author of 'Balthasar: Spiritual Senses: Perceiving Splendour' (Oxford, 2014), which earned him the Manfred Lautenschlaeger Award for Theological Promise. In 2023, he founded and co-directed the Claritas Initiative, an interdisciplinary project that examines how aesthetic discernment can lead to the discovery of truth and the enhancement of goodness across various fields, including mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, psychology, sociology, law, engineering, and medicine. As a systematic historical theologian, McInroy's research interests encompass modern and contemporary Protestant, Catholic, and Orthodox thought, focusing on the re-evaluation of patristic, medieval, and Reformation theologies. His work delves into Christian doctrine of deification, theological aesthetics, and spiritual perception through various historical contexts, emphasizing influential figures such as Luther and Balthasar.
