Biography

Mark trained in Medicine at the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford, and in Oncology at Christie Hospital, University of Manchester. His clinical research interests are focused on new cancer drug development and treatment, particularly upper gastrointestinal cancers and melanoma. He is the Chief Principal Investigator for 100 trials and is closely involved in the development of new therapies including DNA repair mechanisms, immune checkpoint inhibitors, ImmTACs, and oncolytic viruses. Mark serves as the Director of the Cancer Research UK Oxford Centre and is the Head of the Department of Oncology at the University of Oxford, where he also founded the Early Phase Clinical Trials Unit. His group conducts translational research, engages in collaborations, and supervises students in oncology research. He works collaboratively with several notable researchers and has had numerous alumni who have moved on to significant positions in medicine and academia. Mark is passionate about advancing cancer treatment and has published extensively in this area.
