Biography

Mark Musen is a Professor of Biomedical Informatics Research at Stanford Medicine, leading the Stanford Center for Biomedical Informatics Research. His research focuses on open science, data stewardship, intelligent systems, and biomedical decision support. He is well-known for developing Protégé, one of the most widely used technologies for building and managing ontologies. His academic appointments include numerous leadership roles, and he has co-edited the journal Applied Ontology. Musen's work has significantly advanced the field of biomedical informatics, especially in the areas of metadata creation and the use of semantic technologies in science.
