Biography

Mark Nachtigal received his Bachelor of Science (Biology) and PhD in Molecular Endocrinology from the University of Manitoba. He conducted his post-doctoral research at the University of California, San Francisco, focusing on mammalian reproductive tract development. In 1998, he was recruited as a Rossetti Scholar for Cancer Research at Dalhousie University to study human epithelial ovarian cancer and has served as co-chair of the Nova Scotia Cancer Research Training Program and on the advisory board of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research Institute of Cancer Research. Dr. Nachtigal returned to Manitoba in 2010 to continue his research on epithelial ovarian cancer. He is currently a Professor and Associate Head of the Department of Biochemistry and Medical Genetics, as well as a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences. He also directs the Advanced Degrees in Medicine program at the Max Rady College of Medicine and the Interdisciplinary Health Program at the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences. Additionally, he is a senior scientist at the Paul Albrechtsen Research Institute at CancerCare Manitoba.
