Biography

Mark Scullion is a Lecturer in Electronic Photonic Devices at the James Watt School of Engineering, University of Glasgow. His research interests include the development of nano and microphotonic devices for various applications, particularly in biosensing and point-of-care medical diagnostics. He has a specialization in photonic integrated circuits and environmental sensing using spectroscopy. With years of experience in the design, simulation, fabrication, and application of photonic devices, Mark utilizes advanced techniques such as electron beam lithography, photolithography, and laser writing. He has been involved in the functionalization of devices through numerous techniques to enable the use of microfluidics in biological sample analysis, including serum, urine, bacteria, antibodies, and proteins. Mark is keenly interested in exploring new directions and applications, including quantum devices.
