Dr. Mark Stefanelli

Biography

Mark Stefanelli is an Associate Professor in the field of Neurology at the Faculty of Medicine, Memorial University of Newfoundland. He has completed his B.Sc. and MD, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC). His professional role includes being a general neurologist, with significant involvement in clinical research and practice. His research interests span multiple sclerosis (MS), neuromuscular disorders, stroke, movement disorders, epilepsy, botox treatment for dystonia, spasticity, and headache management. Dr. Stefanelli collaborates with several notable researchers, including Dr. Craig Moore, a neuroimmunologist, and Dr. Michelle Ploughman, a neuroscientist. In addition to his academic responsibilities, he is involved in residency training and plays a crucial role in mentoring medical students and residents in neurology. Outside of work, he enjoys skiing (both water and snow), golfing, hiking, reading, and spending time with his dogs.
