Biography

Mark Walkey completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc) and a Doctorate (PhD) at the University of Western Australia (UWA), where he was supervised by Professors Matthew Piggott and George Koutsantonis focused on the synthesis of organometallic molecular switches. Following his doctoral studies, he undertook postdoctoral work with Professor Richard Whitby at the University of Southampton, where he researched endohedral fullerenes. Walkey is currently back at UWA collaborating with Professor Piggott on developing MDMA analogues as potential treatments for Parkinson's Disease in partnership with industry collaborator Emyria Ltd.
