Biography

Professor Markus Becherer researches magnetic components, specifically in the realm of spin-based signal processing and sensing. His focus includes ferro and ferrimagnetic materials, nanoscale patterning, as well as electrical and optical characterization methods. These methods have been developed to adjust material properties for various applications in digital, analog, and neuromorphic signal processing. He completed his vocational training at Sick AG and studied electrical engineering and information technology at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), where he graduated with a Doctorate in Engineering in 2011 and habilitated in 2017. Between 2017 and 2020, he served as the provisional head of the Chair of Nanoelectronics and managed the ZEITlab, Central Electronics Information Technology Laboratory of SoCIT. In June 2024, he was appointed to the professorship of Chip-based Magnetic Sensor Technology at TUM.
