Biography

Markus Bockmuehl is the Dean Ireland's Professor of Exegesis at Keble College, University of Oxford, specializing in the context of the New Testament, biblical studies, and early Christian and Jewish studies. With an academic career commencing in Oxford in 2007, he previously held positions at the Universities of St Andrews and Cambridge, and taught at Regent College and the University of British Columbia. Bockmuehl has served as Associate Head of the Humanities Division at Oxford, where he emphasizes mentoring early career scholars, particularly those from Asia. He has authored several books, including 'Seeing the Word: Refocusing New Testament Study' and 'Ancient Apocryphal Gospels', and has edited volumes such as 'The New Cambridge Companion to Jesus'. His recent research projects include a funded conference on Old Testament Christian Scripture and seminars on the Dead Sea Scrolls, showcasing his commitment to advancing the understanding of scriptural texts.
