Markus Müschen, MD-PhD, is the Director of the Center of Molecular and Cellular Oncology and holds the Arthur H. Isabel Bunker Professorship in Hematology and Immunobiology at Yale School of Medicine. His research primarily focuses on signal transduction mechanisms in lymphoid malignancies and the underlying pathways that are often disrupted in drug-resistant leukemia and lymphoma. Having established novel conceptual frameworks for understanding B-cell signaling and energy metabolism, Müschen's lab has made significant strides in studying the effects of these mechanisms on lymphoid malignancies. He received his MD from Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf and completed his PhD in Immunology at the University of Cologne. His postdoctoral training in immunology and cancer genetics was conducted at prominent institutions including the University of Chicago and UCSF, where he served as Program Leader in the UCSF Comprehensive Cancer Center's Hematological Malignancies Program. Elected as a member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation, he is also a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Faculty Scholar. Müschen's laboratory emphasizes the exploration of treatment pathways for B-cell malignancies and autoimmune diseases, training numerous researchers who have gone on to secure faculty positions in academic institutions worldwide.
