Biography

Marla Beauchamp is an Associate Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Science at McMaster University and an Associate Member in the Department of Medicine. She is a physical therapist with extensive research and clinical experience in the field of mobility, aging, and chronic disease. As the Director of the McMaster Institute for Research on Aging (MIRA) at the Dixon Hall Centre in Toronto, Dr. Beauchamp is dedicated to advancing knowledge and practices in the rehabilitation of older adults. She holds a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair and received the Early Researcher Award from the Ministry of Colleges and Universities for her contributions to understanding mobility challenges in aging populations. Dr. Beauchamp completed her PhD at the University of Toronto, along with a Master of Science in Physical Therapy and a Bachelor of Health Sciences from the University of Waterloo. Additionally, she has undergone postgraduate training through a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School. Her work is focused on developing innovative approaches to enhance the quality of life for older adults and those living with chronic conditions.
