Biography

Marleen Damman is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Utrecht University. Her research focuses on the transition from work to retirement among older workers in an aging society. Prior to her current position, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Radboud University and the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute. In 2017, she was awarded the Veni-Grant from the Dutch Research Council for her research on retirement processes among solo self-employed workers in the Netherlands. Damman earned her PhD from the University of Amsterdam in 2014, with a dissertation titled 'From Employee to Retiree: Life Histories of Retirement in the Netherlands'. She has published her research on retirement preparation and post-retirement adjustment in various interdisciplinary scientific journals.
