Marnix Lam studied Pharmaceutical Sciences and Medicine at Utrecht University, graduating with distinction. He became a resident in Nuclear Medicine and Radiology and finalized his PhD thesis in 2009 on radionuclide therapy for prostate cancer patients with metastatic bone pain. After a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University School of Medicine, he was appointed Professor of Nuclear Medicine in 2016. His research focuses on translational molecular medicine, especially in oncology, aiming to bring new radiopharmaceuticals into clinical practice. He has contributed significantly to the introduction of new oncological treatment modalities in the Netherlands, such as bone-seeking radiopharmaceuticals for palliation of metastatic bone pain and radioembolization treatments for hepatic malignancies. Currently, his research is centered on dosimetry of therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals, image-guided treatment technologies, and the application of alpha and beta-emitting isotopes for therapeutic purposes. He works actively on improving the diagnosis and treatment outcomes for various diseases, including primary liver tumors, through interdisciplinary research.
