Biography

Marques Zárate is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Brown University whose research focuses on the role of race in identity formation and its impact on political attitudes. His current research investigates how individuals evaluate politicians who use identity-based appeals. One of his projects examines how Hispanic voters assess candidates based on the quality of their Spanish-language appeals and variations in accent, reflecting their perceptions of candidates' abilities to represent Hispanic interests. Prior to joining Brown, Zárate obtained his Ph.D. in Political Science from Rice University.
