Biography

Marrianne Micros, retired Associate Professor from the University of Guelph, has had a distinguished career spanning over forty-five years in the field of English literature. Born in Cuba, New York, she is proud of her Greek heritage and has travelled extensively in Greece, where she has renewed family ties. Marrianne's academic background includes degrees from Sweet Briar College, St. Bonaventure University, and the University of Western Ontario, which she pursued before moving to Canada for her Ph.D. studies. At the University of Guelph, she specialized in Early Modern literature, with a keen interest in Medieval and Early Modern women writers, and also taught creative writing, folktales, and Scottish literature. As an active writer, her works include poetry and fiction collections such as 'Eye' and 'Statue', both published by Guernica. Marrianne has been recognized for her literary contributions, having been a finalist for the Governor General’s Literary Award. With numerous publications in poetry and scholarly articles, her dedication to literature is evident. In her retirement, she continues to write and explore themes of mediumship while enjoying time with her grandchildren.
