Marshall Chin, MD, MPH, is a general internist with extensive experience in improving care for vulnerable patients with chronic diseases. He has worked to advance diabetes care outcomes in the South Side health care system through community interventions. Dr. Chin leads initiatives aimed at improving health strategies at the national level and serves as the Director of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Finding Answers: Solving Disparities Payment and Delivery System Reform Program. He is also the Co-Director of the Merck Foundation's Bridging Gap: Reducing Disparities in Diabetes Care National Program Office. His research focuses on enhancing diabetes care outcomes in federally-qualified health centers that serve vulnerable populations with limited resources. Over the past decade, Dr. Chin has led the RWJF’s Finding Answers program and has contributed to the creation of a Roadmap to Reduce Disparities. His current projects involve improving diabetes outcomes in real-world settings, reducing health disparities, and enhancing shared decision-making for clinicians working with LGBTQ individuals and people of color. In addition to his research roles, Dr. Chin is an award-winning mentor, dedicated to providing trainees with opportunities through his co-direction of the Summer Program in Outcomes Research Training (SPORT). He is recognized for his expertise in health care disparities and has been invited to present at national conferences and serve on policy committees. Dr. Chin was elected to the National Academy of Medicine in 2017.
