Biography

Marta Bashovski is an Associate Professor in the Department of Politics and International Studies at the University of Regina. She earned her PhD from the University of Victoria and has a strong focus on political thought, particularly early modern Enlightenment thought and contemporary social political thought. Her research includes exploring the intersection of political narrative and aesthetics and how cultural objects such as novels, music, and film express political views. Currently, she is working on two book manuscripts: one is a co-authored project titled 'Art Thought: Methods Manifesto' with Dr. Danielle Taschereau Mamers from the University of Toronto, which examines how political theorists utilize visual art as a form for critical and creative political thinking. The other manuscript, 'Determinations of Dissent', analyzes knowledge practices in recent social movements as interpreted by journalists, academics, and activists within their historical contexts. Bashovski is also committed to teaching as a means of community building, reflecting on how classroom dynamics can enhance the learning environment.
